Squares Caller Dale McClary
Dale began his square dance calling career in January 1965 at Ft. Worth, Texas.
In his younger days, he sang with country bands in the Ozarks of Missouri, performed Country Western Concerts, was a recording artist at Rawhide Records (licensed by both BMI and ASCAP), and attended the Columbia School of Broadcasting. During his Air Force career, in addition to his normal activities, Dale served as a disk jockey on Armed Forces Radio. In 1973, Dale, Carolyn, and their family moved from Iran to Florida and, one year later, he retired from the Air Force. Once he moved to Florida, his square dance calling opportunities began to increase.
Now, 45 years later, he has called square dances throughout the United States and in foreign countries and has been the club caller and guest caller for numerous clubs throughout the Sunshine State. With his deep voice and quick laugh, it’s easy to see why Dale is one of the most enjoyable square dance callers. One of Dale's primary missions is to teach Mainstream and Plus level classes yearly to introduce new folks to the joys of square dancing.
Dale held positions of leadership in various caller associations including President of the Florida Callers Association (FCA) and serving on the FCA board. He served as Master of Ceremonies at State and National Conventions, Narrator on Panel Discussions at National Conventions, and Training Director of Square Dance Callers.
